ABOUT
Mellisa received her Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Saskatchewan before completing her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Northern Arizona University. She completed clinical practicum placements and internships in a variety of settings including hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and outpatient clinics. Upon completing her internship at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA, Mellisa worked for a private practice in San Diego where she specialized in cochlear implant rehabilitation, fluency disorders, and voice disorders.

In 2007 Mellisa began working for San Diego Unified School District in addition to maintaining a private practice. She continues to work with adolescents in the public school system as well as see clients of all ages at her office.
Mellisa completes ongoing continuing education training to maintain awareness of current best practices and effective therapy techniques. She follows neurodiversity affirming practices and has received training in trauma informed care. Mellisa has completed additional training in Auditory-Verbal Therapy, Myofunctional Disorders (tongue thrust), Fluency Disorders, and the UCLA PEERS Social Skills program, to name a few. She is the San Diego area provider for the SpeechEasy Fluency and Parkinson's Disease (SpeechEasy PD) device.

Mellisa has recently begun working with a certified facility dog, Makena, to bring Animal Assisted Intervention to her practice.
